The Wet open overheid, WOO (Open Government Act, in Dutch) regulates the right to information on nearly everything the Government of the Netherlands does. The ILT already actively discloses a lot of information. If the information you are looking for is not yet accessible to the public, you can submit a WOO request.
Accessing public information
You can find publicly disclosed information on the ILT website or on open.overheid.nl (in Dutch). If you are unable to find what you are looking for, please contact the ILT by dialling +31 88 489 0000 on working days from 08:30-17:00, or use our contact form.
Requesting information through the WOO procedure
You can submit a WOO request to the ILT by sending an email to informatieverzoeken-woo@ilent.nl
When you submit a WOO request, you must always include:
- The fact that it is a WOO request.
- The subject of your request.
- The documents concerned, or the type of documents.
- The time period it covers.
- Your contact details.
It is important to think carefully in advance about what information you want to receive through your WOO request. This helps the ILT to assist you more effectively.
After your WOO request
The ILT will respond to your WOO request within 4 weeks. In some cases, the ILT may take longer to reply, for example if a large amount of information is involved. In that case, the ILT may extend the deadline by 2 weeks. If it is still not possible to respond within this time, the ILT will contact you. You may then, for example, be asked to indicate which information you would like to receive first.
Not all information is public
The Wet open overheid, WOO (Open Government Act, in Dutch) sets out which information the ILT is not allowed to disclose. Some information may only be shared in part. In such cases, parts of documents will be made unreadable.
Because of these legal rules, the ILT may refuse part or all of your WOO request. You will be informed of this in the decision you receive from the ILT. If you disagree with the decision, you can object. For more information, see Appealing against a decision by a public authority on government.nl.
