Transferring an EASA AML from the Netherlands to another country

If you hold an EASA Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML) issued in the Netherlands, you can transfer this licence to another country within the European Union (EU), Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland. You must apply for a licence transfer through the Civil Aviation Authority the Netherlands (CAA NL), part of the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT).

Required attachments

You must upload several attachments with your online application. To transfer your EASA AML to another country, you will need:

  • Your current EASA AML.
  • Evidence that you have contacted the civil aviation authority of the receiving country.

How to apply

You must contact the civil aviation authority of the receiving country first to confirm whether your EASA AML can be transferred. If the civil aviation authority of the receiving country approves, you may then apply for a licence transfer through CAA NL.

Apply for an EASA AML licence transfer using the online form Application for an EASA Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML) (EASA Form 19). In the form, select: Licence transfer of an EASA AML.

Please note: you must enter your name and place of birth exactly as shown in your passport or other valid form of identification.

Costs

There is no fee to apply for a licence transfer of an EASA AML from the Netherlands to another country.

Returning your EASA AML

Once you have applied for a licence transfer of your EASA AML issued in the Netherlands, you must return your current EASA AML to:

You will receive a confirmation email once CAA NL has received your EASA AML.

Please note: once CAA NL withdraws your current EASA AML, it will temporarily no longer be valid. You are not permitted to carry out aircraft maintenance during this period.

After your application

  1. You will receive an automatic email confirming that CAA NL has received your application.
  2. You will receive a payment request by email. Please pay within 4 weeks of the date on the payment request.
  3. If any information is missing, CAA NL will ask you to provide additional details.
  4. Once your application is complete and the fee has been paid, CAA NL will begin processing your application.
  5. CAA NL will take approximately 40 working days to process your application.
  6. You will receive the decision by email. CAA NL will then withdraw your EASA AML issued in the Netherlands.
