How to apply
You can apply for the transfer of a EASA pilot licence issued by another EASA Member State using the online form Application for a Part-FCL licence transfer. Indicate on the form which pilot licence you wish to transfer.
Please note:
- Before applying for the transfer of your licence, you must apply for an aeromedical records transfer. CAA NL will only issue the new licence after your medical records have been transferred to the Netherlands and a new medical certificate has been issued.
- If you hold multiple FCL licences, tick all of them on the form. All your licences and aeromedical records must be managed by the same authority. If you also hold a sailplane pilot licence (SPL), you must apply seperately for an SPL licence transfer.
- You must enter your name and place of birth exactly as shown in your passport or other valid form of identification.
Costs
The fee for transferring an EASA pilot licence from another EASA Member State to the Netherlands depends on the licence you hold:
- Transferring a Private Pilot Licence (PPL) or Light Aircraft Pilot Licence (LAPL) to the Netherlands costs €673.
- Transferring an Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL), Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) or Multi Pilot Licence (MPL) to the Netherlands costs €698.
These amounts are legally determined in the Regeling tarieven transportsectoren (Transportation Sectors Tariffs Scheme, in Dutch). You do not have to pay VAT on this amount.
If your employer is covering the costs you can indicate this during the application process.
After submitting your application
- You will receive an automatic email confirming that CAA NL has received your application.
- You will receive a payment request by email. Please pay within 4 weeks of the date on the payment request.
- If any information is missing, CAA NL will ask you to provide additional details.
- CAA NL requests information about your current licence from the relevant Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
- Once CAA NL has received your licence details and aeromedical records from the CAA outside the Netherlands, they will begin processing your application. Currently, CAA NL is experiencing backlogs. Processing times may be longer than usual. Find out more about the expected processing times.
- If CAA NL approves your application and if your medical certificate has been issued, you will receive the decision and your licence by post.
- You must return your old licence to CAA NL. The decision will explain how to do this.
If you disagree with the decision, you can submit an objection.
