If you hold an EASA Sailplane Pilot Licence (SPL) issued by a European Union (EU) Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland, you can transfer this licence to the Netherlands. This is called a licence transfer. You can apply for this transfer with the Civil Aviation Authority the Netherlands (CAA NL), part of the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT).
Requirements
Before applying for the SPL, request the transfer of your Part-FCL medical records. CAA NL will only issue the new licence once your medical records have been transferred to the Netherlands and a new medical certificate has been issued.
Please note: All your FCL licences and medical records must be managed by the same competent authority.

Attachments
For this application you must upload the following attachments:
- A copy of the photo page of your passport. Alternatively, a copy of your valid proof of identity issued by an EU Member State or by Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland or Switzerland. Read more about making a secure copy of your proof of identity.
- A copy of your medical certificate, LAPL or Class 2.
- A copy of your EASA licence.

Costs
An application for transferring an SPL issued by an EU Member State other than the Netherlands or by Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland or Switzerland to the Netherlands costs €78. This fee is stated in the Regeling tarieven transportsectoren (Transportation Sectors Tariffs Scheme, in Dutch).
After submitting your application
- After submitting your application, you will receive an automatic email confirmation.
- If any information is missing, CAA NL will ask you to provide additional details.
- CAA NL will request the details of your current licence from the issuing authority.
- After receiving these details from the issuing authority, you will receive a payment request from CAA NL. Please pay the amount as soon as possible, but no later than 4 weeks from the date of the payment request.
- Once payment has been made and your application is complete, including all required attachments, CAA NL will process it within the legal timeframe. The maximum processing time is 56 days. You will generally receive feedback on your application within 2 weeks. If demand is high, processing may take longer.
- When CAA NL approved your application and your new medical certificate has been issued, you will receive your licence.
- If you disagree with the decision, you can lodge an objection.
- You must personally return your previous licence to the issuing authority.
