Amending an EASA AML for maintenance technicians

If you already hold an EASA Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML), you can apply to amend it. For example to add a (first) type rating or add a new category. You can apply for an AML amendment through the Civil Aviation Authority the Netherlands (CAA NL), part of the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT).

How to apply

Apply to amend your EASA AML using the online form Application for an EASA Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML) (EASA Form 19). In the form, select: Amendment of an EASA AML.

Please note: you must enter your name and place of birth exactly as shown in your passport or other valid form of identification.

Costs

An application to amend an EASA AML costs €184. This amount is legally determined in the Regeling tarieven transportsectoren (Transportation Sectors Tariffs Scheme, in Dutch). You do not have to pay VAT on this amount.

Please note: If your employer is covering the costs you can indicate this during the application process. Please request authorisation from your employer for this and upload the completed and signed authorisation form as an attachment to your application.

Returning your current EASA AML

After submitting your amendment application, you must send your current EASA AML to:

You will receive a confirmation email once CAA NL has received your EASA AML.

Please note: you must keep a copy of your EASA AML. If there is an inspection while you do not have the original EASA AML, you must show the copy and the confirmation email.

After your application

  1. You will receive an automatic email confirming that CAA NL has received your application.
  2. You will receive a payment request by email. Please pay within 4 weeks of the date on the payment request.
  3. If any information is missing, CAA NL will ask you to provide additional details.
  4. Once your application is complete and the fee has been paid, CAA NL will begin processing your application.
  5. CAA NL will take approximately 40 working days to process your application.
  6. You will receive the decision by email, along with an acknowledgement of payment for your records. If your application is approved, you will receive a new licence by post.

Validity

An EASA AML is valid for 5 years from the date of issue or amendment. The expiry date is shown in box XIII of the EASA AML. If your licence is due to expire within 3 months, you can apply for an AML renewal.
