Requirements for marine fuel

Sulphur emissions from seagoing vessels are harmful to human health and the environment. For this reason, there are international rules regarding the sulphur content in marine fuel . The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) enforces these rules in the Netherlands and inspects documents such as the brandstofleveringsnota (Bunker Delivery Note, BDN) . The ILT also assesses whether bunker oil that enters the Netherlands is classified as afval (waste) or a product (product).
