Surveys and certification

The Dutch Administration authorised a number of class societies (Recognised Organisations, ROs) to perform on her behalf statutory surveys, verifications and certifications as required in the International Conventions* (agreement of 1 June 2006).  Seven authorised ROs carry out surveys of vessels applying to transfer to the Dutch Register and to issue the certificates required under the International Conventions. Register Holland has been authorised to carry out these surveys for sailing vessels carrying no more than 36 passengers or a Commercial Cruising Vessel.

Surveys by one of the Recognised Organisations of vessels applying to transfer to the Dutch Registry are subject to the instructions to ROs number 6: Procedure for the transfer of ships to the Dutch Register.

All regulations governing ships flying the Dutch flag are listed at Easyrules.

The Dutch Administration carries out the surveys of vessels applying to transfer to the Dutch Register which are not subject to the International Conventions. Where a vessel is partly subject to them, the Inspectorate will deal only with those elements not falling under them. Under article 3.7 of the Agreement with the ROs, an RO may also carry out this survey.
