Ship registration

Seagoing vessels can sail under Dutch flag if they are registered at the Kadaster (registration office) or in the Bareboat Charter Register. For the ship owner there are requirements to set up the company. Each type of ship requires certain inspections and certificates. There are two types of registration for seagoing vessels under the Dutch flag: full registration in the Dutch Register and Bareboat Charter Registration.

Urgent application of nationality certificate and (provisional) certificate of registration merchant shipping

If there is an urgent request, a nationality certificate and (provisional) certificate of registration merchant shipping, may be issued 24/7. For this urgent request, the required documents shall be filled in correctly and entirely and submitted to the ILT at least 72 hours (3 days) in advance.
Thereafter, the ILT shall ensure that the nationality certificate and (provisional) certificate of registration merchant shipping is issued at the requested date.

Application for registration

Use the relevant application form for the registration of a seagoing vessel. For a quick registration the form needs to be filled in fully, correctly and readable. The attachments must be included in the application. The return address is shown on the form.
