Changing the name of a seagoing vessel

If the name of a seagoing vessel registered in the Netherlands changes but the scheepsbeheerder (managing owner) remains the same, you must reapply for all certificates that still display the old scheepsnaam (vessel name).

First, request a wijziging van de teboekstelling (change to the vessel's registration, in Dutch) with Kadaster (Netherlands’ Cadastre, Land Registry and Mapping Agency). Once the name change is processed by Kadaster, you can apply for a new zeebrief (Certificate of Registry) with the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) using the Nationality Certificate and Certificate of Registry merchant shipping online form.
