Hundreds of thousands of tons of dangerous goods are transported daily in the Netherlands, from chemicals to fireworks. This is done by water, rail, road or air. The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) monitors compliance with the rules for the carriage of goods from this particular category.
Here you can read what is meant by dangerous goods, how they are classified and how to recognise them. On our pages on rules and regulations you can learn about the requirements for vehicles, packaging and transport documents. For each mode of transport, you can find which regulations and conventions apply, which documents are required and how the inspection conducts its supervision.
